Boston hit 96 degrees on Tuesday, marking the hottest spring day in over a century. It made me yearn for ice cream for lunch and wonder if it was too early to put in my AC window units.
It also gave me the pre-vacation jitters.
Luckily, by the time this article posts, I will be in Florida and on my way to a piña colada (or at least, coffee under the palms to start).
The weeks leading up to the getaway have — naturally — consisted of the ritual outfit planning in my head. This time, I was getting tripped up on what to wear as a coverup.
I usually just wrap a mini sarong around my waist and throw a Tommy Bahama chair on my back and bike to the beach … where I immediately take the coverup off.
But for this trip, I needed a real coverup that I could wear to brunch and around downtown before going to the beach. It needed to not be completely see through and deserved to be cute enough to earn a spot on the vacation outfit roster.
I ended up selecting my newly thrifted Banana Republic white poplin utility dress (don’t forget you can repurpose regular dresses as coverups) for the occasion.
